Alice in Wonderland is one of my favorite books. If the mom to be loves this book celebrate her Alice in Wonderland Baby Shower theme.
The cake is an important part of the dessert table and if you are planning to go with this theme, use this Alice in Wonderland Inspired Baby Shower Cake as the table centerpiece.
My friend Samantha from Samantha's Sweets designed this adorable cake for a baby shower which can be adapted to a birthday party as well.
She also made these adorable Eat Me Cookies for the shower. Wrap with cellophane, tie with a ribbon and add a gift tag. These cookies make great party favors to send home with your guests.
Samantha shares her scoop on this beautiful cake:
The mom-to-be was a having a baby shower tea party with an Alice in Wonderland theme. She emailed me a photo of a cake similar to this one that she found on Pinterest. We chose the elements that she liked and designed a two tier cake. The top characters and tea cup are hand made from gumpaste and a few wires to hold them in place. For a molded tea cup, roll out the sugar paste, place in a cup or bowl dusted with corn starch and let dry for two days. Mold base and handle out of gumpaste and place on the dry hardened cup with edible glue(a mixture of water and gumpaste.) The top tier is covered in rolled fondant to represent a table cloth. Sugar flowers, a clock and mushrooms finish the whimsical look of this cake.
